Sorry about derailing your original question there - which version of
evolution are you using?  Dragging contacts into the list window doesn't
actually move the contact.   It just puts a link to the contact into the
list.  Also, you have to drop into the list area (not the text field,
and not just into the window).  It would probably help to resize that
window bigger, since there's not much indication.  The big white
rectangle at the bottom is the drop target.
