Upgrading to libc 2.2.3 shoudn't be the end of the world ...

Umm, ohter than t hat, well i dunno, i use source-code installs, and
i've never had such problems (i'm using redhat something anchient (6.2)
and kernel 2.4.18 (manuallyh installed), etc).
