This may be completely off base, but some mail programs (I don't know if
this includes Evolution) don't send the file directly when sending the
attachment inline.  For instance I've notice that when I am using Lotus
Notes to send an attachment that wants to send inline to a user that is
opening that attachment in Outlook Express they get just a winmail.dat. 
I've heard from notes.net that this is due to Notes wrapping the
attachment into an inline format file and sending it that way.  If I
force it to send it as an attachment this problem goes away.  Is there a
way to force the attachment properties (and the attachment type) in
Evolution?
