[Evolution] Problems compiling .9 on Gnome 1.4 beta

I'm trying to compile 0.9 on RedHat 7.0 from source. My Gnome packages 
are mostly from 1.4 beta.

I do "./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc 
--enable-pilot-conduits", and configure exits with this error:

checking for gnome_dialog_grab_focus in -lgnomeui... no
configure: error: gnome-libs 1.2.9 or higher is required.

My Gnome libs packages are gnome-libs-devel-1.2.12-0_helix_1 and
gnome-libs-1.2.12-0_helix_1.

What's going on? Will I need to downgrade to compile Evolution?
