many people have suggested workarounds and such, and thanks very much.

however, i'm surprised.  as trivial as it is, does no one else consider
the fact that the main window doesn't come up in the same desktop as the
splash screen started a bug?  i am going to report it as such anyway, i
just want to get some opinions.
