Well I'm not sure what everyone is talking about when they say that
gnome 1.4 from rc 1.0 uninstalls evolution. I've successfully installed
everything on the gnome 1.4 stuff along with everything in the redhat

(0.10).
I believe that the problem had to do with some earlier version of Evo or
snapshot leaving the rpm database (this in RH 6.2) somewhat confused as
to what depended on what. I got the warning that Evo depended on an old
library that was going away (libgal.7 if memory serves me right). Since
I needed to update to a more recent snapshot anyway, I rpm -e'd evo. But
then I still got the same warning. I did rpm --rebuilddb and the problem
finally disappeared. The only snag is that RC was now excruciatingly
slow, and Evo snapshots had disappeared from their usual place. After
some digging around -- not easy because of ftp.ximian.com running out of
FTP connections -- I found the snapshot I wanted under "obsolete" last
night.
