I think Spider Monkey might be very appropriate for GNOME 3.0 considering GNOME Shell (and the new user interface) is the highlight of the GNOME 3.0 release.

The Spider Monkey is also my favorite for much the same reason. :)
Spider Monkey strikes me as an odd release subhead... if only because the JS engine that powers Mozilla's products, as well as GJS (and thus, Shell), is called Spidermonkey.
(Not sure if this was brought up, I've only skimmed the rest of this thread)
