Simple answer: Not knowing which day you're going to have "fuck", "anal sex" or "Fascism in the USA" on GNOME's front page. I think the answer here is clear: Link Planet GNOME ("personal blogs of project contributors") but only display a feed of official GNOME news source titles.
(The GNOME news block will be in the wgo homepage anyway, it is not affected by this Planet block discussion) I would automatically agree with Karderio and you if we would be talking about a gnomesupport.org forum feed, instead of the feed of a Planet where only thoughtfully selected GNOME contributors are aggregated. This looks to me like one of those measures in which a 0,1% risk avoids a 99,9% joy. But if this is what we want, no problem. My last attempt to defend this block in the wgo home: The cool gnome-is-people Planet block with its little hackergotchis and its genuine content renewed automatically several times a day all year round should be discarded to avoid... the rather small probability of having offensive words during some hours in the title of a blog post of a GNOME contributor trusted enough to be aggregated in Planet GNOME. Considering also that probably GNOME contributors will think it twice when using these words if they know that they will automatically appear in the wgo homepage. Also peer moderation would play a role if something like this would ever happen. -- Quim Gil /// http://desdeamericaconamor.org | http://guadec.org
