You are not alone!
I have come across the nightly builds that were produced up to a certain
time, but none of them has been working for me.
This is a two-fold issue:
1. The nightly snapshots weren't built anymore for Windows because the build was broken. They stopped somewhere between 2.0.11 and 2.0.12 IIUC. So even if they would work for you, they would probably not have the features which you require.
I had understood, I called for help in case somebody had a build
somewhere on his/her harddrive.
2. That they don't work for you at all is kinda strange. They always worked for me and others, but I know of at least one guy who had the same problem that you report (crashing upon startup) and none of the usual cures helped. I never found the problem, but what the guy told me was that after running this in Win95 compatibility mode, this worked. Not that this would be the solution, but can you give it a try, please?
I could, however not right now since I have switched to Linux (and
compiling the trunk version on ubuntu). Could my problem come from the
fact that I use a Swedish version of the OS? Has this been discussed at
the time? Things like "Common Files" are not called that way and I have
experienced problems in the past. This was my first non-english windows,
and I'm not going to buy another one...
Could somebody point me at a binary that I can try?
Which one have you been using?
mm... Picked a number of ones:
The zip file and a number of apparently filled setup releases, can't
remember the exact date of them, only that I tested a number of them,
that they all crashed, that I was extremely careful in removing them
(using Revo uninstaller, in case). My "filter" was something like one
each month back, starting from the latest, as long as it was "big
enough" to represent a real setup (and not one that had failed to build).
Unfortunately the download link for the officially released 2.0.11-BETA got lost on the site and I don't know where to find these binaries on the server and it does not allow directory listing.
@Damien: Can you help, please?
But what you really want is a Windows build of 3.0-trunk. This doesn't exist right now. I (and others) are working on that. The latest status is here:
http://wiki.ekiga.org/index.php/Cross-compile_Win32
I've been there. I am putting my hands at compiling on Linux as a start.
I've never cross compile however, so I might stop there. My goal is
twin: test the h264/Speex combination and test the windows version.
Which is why I've reverted to Linux, in order to be able to test the
h264/speex combination.
So either you would like to help out or you would need some patience.
See above. I'm not reluctant to help, though dunno if I can.
Regards,
Torsten

Betreff: [Ekiga-devel-list] Windows binaries with h264 and speex support
Dear folks,
I am new to the list and have been trying to catch up a bit with what is
going on here via the archive. I am looking for windows binaries with
support for h264 and speex for testing purposes. I am posting here (and
not the user list) since it seems that this is part of the trunk, i.e.
the coming 3.0 release and not of the official 2.x releases.
I have come across the nightly builds that were produced up to a certain
time, but none of them has been working for me. I have been copying
SDL.dll to the gtk directory as instructed, but could not get any binary
from the snapshot to work. They all crash when starting.
Could somebody point me at a binary that I can try? It can be an older
one, as long as it has support for h264 and speex. I can cope with buggy
binaries and would be happy to report bugs that I find. I just want to
test the binaries and especially the video and audio quality.
Thanks in advance.
/Emmanuel
