Yes. Just change the default in the toolbox. All internal are created with
some defaults they get either from the visible toolbox proeprties (arrows,
color, dash style) or from something previously stored as default (by
double clicking the specific tool/object button).

In some cases this is desirablöe behaviour even for objects created during
import. In other cases this is not really desired (e.g. your arrow problem).

See "Dialog/(Dia) Group Properties" (if you have compile --with-python and
have pygtk) available

That may be interesting to see why your "closed* polylines (aka polygons)
are turned into polylines.
