I think it should be a small shell-script that would detect strings
nos marked for translation, using the "_" function.
For example, in gnome-packagekit/src folder, I've ran the following command:
egrep -i "label.*\(\"" * |grep -v "_("
To detect all the «gtk_label_new» without a translatable string. Here
is the output:
gpk-distro-upgrade.c: priv->status_label = gtk_label_new ("This is
where the status goes");
gpk-update-viewer.c: info_mobile_label = gtk_label_new ("");
In this case... is the first line a bug? Should that string be translatable?
Using grep with the appropiate patterns (gtk_label_new is just an
example, it should also detect print, printf, etc functions) would
detect most of the non marked for translation strings. Also, it should
be easy to add it to git command, so it could show a warning it ther
user is commiting a source code file with strings not marked for
translation.
My 2 cents ;-)
