I think hosting the whole GNOME project on the same infrastructure has
several advantages for the community: a single place to look for bugs,
for code, for mailing lists, etc., and therefore fewer accounts to
manage for everyone. It also ensures rather durable hosting (I have seen
various projects moving as maintainers went in and out)...
