By the time the user realised that, it would probably be too late (she'd
be caught in a fullscreen presentation).
I just looked at OO.o Impress and noticed that it's not so easy to leave
full screen mode without viewing the entire presentation (not even Esc
does this, though Q works). Perhaps part of the GNOME integration of OO.o
should be a Totem-like 'Exit full screen' button that appears when you
rightclick, move the mouse into a corner, or somesuch?
