If you install gconf with --sysconfdir=/etc, then /etc/gconf/2/path
will have /etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults - but you also want to load
~/bin/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults, so you need to add that to
~/.gconf.path.
