Should sysconfdir not default to ${prefix}/etc ? I must say I have the
same problems as Ross.
However - it seems the problem is hidden (nicely) if you run gconf on
the same (different) non- /usr prefix. If you remove your non /usr gconf
( and gconftool-2 ) I imagine you'll see the same problem - which can be
rather frustrating.
