Well if KDE becomes a widely used word, doesn't it fall under the same
rule that applies to it, pc, cd, cd-rom, etc?

    
    I don't actually think anyone would object too much to GNOME instead
    of Gnome. (A lot of people will object to the missing hyphen between
    "2.0" and "skrivebordet", though).

Yes, shame on me, I normally complain about that :) Never reply to
