I know that Banshee has a plugin which will use Beagle as a source.  It 
does exactly (I think) what joel was proposing: it finds all of your 
music files and presents them to you automatically in the application.

Tangerine, which is a tool to export your music over DAAP (the protocol 
iTunes uses for sharing) can also use Beagle to find all of your music 
files.
