Nice to see you on the Conduit list :)
In answer to your question, this particular work is about an easy way to
achieve this use case:
"What about a nautilus-plugin that allows you right-click a folder for
example and select "Sync to flickr" for example."
We will be using the same basic API set so that, for example, Cheese
[1] can send its photos to any dataprovider that Conduit supports - be
it website or device.
As to your original question, I think Conduit can basically do this now,
but their are some limitations in Google Contacts that stop us from
singing its praises more. Specifically the id is somewhat volatile. The
only way around this is to abuse spare fields, which I hope to try out
in time for our 0.4 release.
I will be sending an e-mail later with some thoughts on Conduits roadmap,
so stay tuned...
