Re: Being good citizens

Thomas,

The API is pretty good, and capable of doing all you suggest. I even left a comment on that blog post to indicate as much. See the (as yet unfinished) eye of gnome plugin in the tools directory for some examples. The actual API is documented at the top of the DBus file. Is there any chance you could hack together something to impress pgo readers with our fast response?

Also, once we have the FSpot plugin finished we could, using the dbus iface, setup a conduit that both imports new photos to F-Spot, and also uploads them to Flickr when a digicam is plugged in

How cool is that?

Hi all,

Today I read this on planet gnome [1]:

The default in GNOME when you plug in a camera is that the photos sit
on your hard drive, viewable only by you and just waiting to be lost
when you drop your laptop. We need someone to fix this - I had some
suggestions for part of that. Conduit looks useful for transferring
bits, but doesn't look like it is attempting to solve the problem of
helping a normal person get started putting photos online by default.

It made me think how we could make this better.  What about a
nautilus-plugin that allows you right-click a folder for example and
select "Sync to flickr" for example.

How good is the conduit dbus api at this moment, would it be possible
to create and manage conduits?

Regards,
Thomas
