This that I missed in the howto:
- there is a buildbot/ dir in the jhbuild tree that contains most of
the needed files
- the slaves.csv file needs to be in the cwd of the server

 After figuring this out, my setup worked, and the slave came in with 187 out of
234 modules building, which is just shy of 80%. However, the requirement to have
a fixed IP renders my offer useless. I only started down this road
because there was
no mention of a fixed IP in the howto :-(
