This is very old. The recent version is

cdrecord/OBJ/i386-sunos5-cc/cdrecord -version
Cdrecord-ProDVD-ProBD-Clone 3.02a10 2018/05/14 (i386-pc-solaris2.11) Copyright (C) 1995-2018 Joerg Schilling

It contains e.g. a workaround for a recently introduced DMA bug in the linux
kernel if you call "cdrecord scgopts=ignore-resid ....". This may be needed
e.g. if your drive is connected via USB.

Check http://sourceforge.net/projects/schilytools/files/ as mentioned in
recent man pages.

./cdrecord -v -atip
Cdrecord-ProDVD-ProBD-Clone 3.01 (x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu) Copyright

TOC Type: 1 = CD-ROM
cdrecord: Insufficient 'file read' privileges. You will not be able to
open all needed devices.
cdrecord: Insufficient 'file write' privileges. You will not be able
to open all needed devices.
cdrecord: Insufficient 'device' privileges. You may not be able to
send all needed SCSI commands, this my cause various unexplainable
problems.
cdrecord: Insufficient 'memlock' privileges. You may get buffer underruns.
cdrecord: Insufficient 'priocntl' privileges. You may get buffer underruns.
cdrecord: Insufficient 'network' privileges. You will not be able to
do remote SCSI.
cdrecord: Permission denied. Cannot open '/dev/sg0'. Cannot open or
use SCSI driver.
cdrecord: For possible targets try 'cdrecord -scanbus'. Make sure you are root.
cdrecord: For possible transport specifiers try 'cdrecord dev=help'.

Both complaint for lack of root rights.
Doy you want me to run them as root?

You did not install cdrecord correctly.

- In order to be able to correctly use SCSI Pass through on Linux, you
need special privileges. Note that for this fact you get frequently
false claims from so called "Linux experts" (including Mr. Torvalds).
Even if it seems that it works without special privileges, you may get
an automatic fallback to a dumb mode that avoids important SCSI commands
because cdrecord is not privilleged to send the best needed SCSI
        commands.

- cdrecord has been audited for being safe against security issues when
installed as suid root since very long time (~ 23 years).

- Now that even Linux supports fine grained privileges, cdrecord is also
able to use fine grained privileges without being root. To learn how to
install cdrecord/cdda2wav/readcd for this purpose, read the file AN-3.01

I'll try now to create a multissesion.

This works with DVD- media type with cdrecord. This does not work with DVD+
media.

I recommend to use a DVD- for testing purposes. You can make it reusable if you
call:

        cdrecord blank=fast

or
        cdrecord blank=all
