Thanks for all the comments and communial frustration with DRM.  I answered my own question.  My end goal was to get the aax file onto my iPod to listen to during my commute.  I ended up downloading the *free* app from the Apple Store which allowed me to download the file to the device.  Thanks again for all the comments.

I avoid Audible because of their DRM, but they do provide an Android
client for those times that you really have to listen to Audible content.
