It sounds like you might be running into this bug: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=641515

I haven't followed that issue too closely, but I think they were assuming/hoping the issue was fixed in the latest version of Banshee (as of May 1st).  Since your build of Banshee is newer than that, you may want to mention in a comment there that you're still experiencing this issue, even with Banshee 2.1.1.
