Changing Banshee's backend probably isn't a viable option, so your best option may be to report a bug against the gstreamer product.  The only related bug i could find was this one: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=636953

Yes, it does happen with Rhythmbox. Is there any way around the gstreamer
backend?
