that command worked and I managed to delete and transfer some tracks from my iPod, however next time I connected the iPod I could not disconnect/eject it

Banshee error message - Could not disconnect Media Player: org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume.NotMountedByHal: Device to unmount is not in /media/.hal-mtab so it is not mounted by HAL

this is beyond my understanding, but I think this may not be a Banshee problem but a system glitch, my iPod is not being mounted properly (?)

any advice/comments most welcome - thanks

Normally the commandline should be using the command
 banshee-1
as originally the idea was to install it in parallel with Banshee 0.1x
 $  which banshee-1
