Re: [Banshee-List] Cleanup plugin now available

Is it really that common to have shares that aren't available all the
time as music shares in banshee? I'm surprised if that is the case.
I assumed that most people had local shares that they use for their
library. Then for remote shares they would connect using daap.

As for accidentally deleting music because the share isn't mapped, I
think a better solution would be display a custom dialog that contains
a list of the tracks that will be removed. The cleanup plugin must be
started manually, so if you know you don't have all your music
available, then don't run it. If you happen to run it, then showing a
confirmation dialog would prevent the accidental deletes.

What do you think? The playlist of files to be deleted seems like
overkill for me.

Thanks for the feedback.

Maybe look at it the way that rhythmbox does it, basically creating a
'missing files' playlist that lists the files. The user can then choose
to delete/clear the list, at which point the plugin would remove all the
files. If it is a temporary error the user would just leave it and when
it runs the next time it'll re-check on startup and if the files are
back, all stays as normal.

Not sure how well the plugin architecture of banshee would allow for
that, but that'd be my take on it.

Alan
