I'm re-emerging Mono to see if it makes a difference. If it doesn't, I'll enter a Gentoo bug. (Question: Should this go in the "Gentoo Linux" section?)

Yes please file a bug so we can help you with your issue. I'm almost
sure that isn't a Banshee itself problem. When you open the bug please
report every information you have about your problem.
