I was merely worried about the lack of a plan going forward with the announcement that 0.10 will cease to be maintained.I agree with the general plan as described above. As an additional reason for waiting before going to GStreamer 1.0: being able to use the GStreamer SDK (http://gstreamer.com/) would make our life easier on Windows, but it still targets 0.10. This leads to a more general discussion about our release schedule, or lack thereof (my fault). I've been thinking about this, and I'll shortly post something to the main mailing list, which is probably better suited for such a topic.
Actually, Sebastian, our GStreamer maintainer in Debian and Ubuntu, wants to get rid of GStreamer 0.10 as soon as possible (earliest being directly after the upcoming Debian release, which is sort of imminent). If that happens, there's going to be mounting pressure in Debian (and consequently Ubuntu) to get it removed from the archive altogether. There's a mostly-working GStreamer 1.0 patch -- it just breaks a couple of extensions which appear to use some form of copy-pasted GStreamer# 0.10 binding. Can we focus on getting this in working order first? -- Kind regards, Loong Jin
