Thanks for the patch! Pushed to master…

The Gtk+ mechanisms for packing child widgets into containers change from time to time, and Balsa's code has 
to be updated in turn. Sometimes, the simplest fix doesn't give quite the behavior we expect; reports of 
less-than-ideal behavior, and especially patches, are always welcome!
