Hi Michelle.
Looks like your life is a lot more complicated than mine :-)
I have some Perl scripts (available on request) that grab incoming
mail and figures out what to do with it, which mail directory it
belongs in, whether its spam, ... The same thing could be done with
outgoing mail by capturing the SMTP port, although I've never tried.
Bottom line here is that this being Unix, you can do most anything you
want, but it takes getting into the weeds. In that respect, Balsa is
more adaptable than the mail systems like Evolution and Thunderbird,
which take a "My Way or the Highway" approach, as you've found out. :-(
