Hi,
I have a strange problem here. It seems that Balsa does not recognize
immediately when mail has arrived in an open mailbox.
BTW, I use fetchmail to get mails, and procmail to put it into
appropriate folders.
I've been wondering why I didn't receive mail from a specific person
and used the find-command to check whether there really hadn't been any
mail. This is the relevant part of the output:
pc rocket:~/mail$ find . -type f -exec ls -lh {} \; | sort -rk6,7 |
head
- -rw-r--r-- 1 pc pc 21M 2007-09-05 22:04 ./local/.procmail.log
- -rw------- 1 pc pc 53M 2007-09-05 22:04 ./local/server
- -rw------- 1 pc pc 7,4M 2007-09-05 22:02 ./local/rocket
- -rw-r--r-- 1 pc pc 94M 2007-09-05 21:24 ./Lists/Debian/Debian User
- -rw-r--r-- 1 pc pc 1,3M 2007-09-05 19:39 ./people/Friends/XXX
Actually, there had been mail in people/Friends/XXX since 7:39 PM, but
it hadn't shown up in Balsa at about 10:15 PM -- almost 3 hrs after
arrival! The option "Subscribe for new mail check" in the properties
for this mailbox was activated, also I had just read a message there,
so it was open. Only when I changed+updated the identity for this
mailbox did Balsa read it again and find the new message. This is not
the only one where I did notice this kind of behavior, though. Is there
perhaps anything else I forgot to activate, or how can this delay be
explained?
Best regards,
Andreas
