Meanwhile I checked that. The changing of the cursor shape plus underlining is
indeed a feature of the zvt_term widget, used in gnome-terminal. However,
using it in balsa seems to be a little bit of "overkill" for me. I played with
it today, and it complicates things a lot for the simple task we need. Somehow
like pulling a whale on the beach...

I am currently working on a modification of my first approach, which takes
real cursor positions and not the text cursor (thus eliminating all the
problems Ali reported; thanks for pointing that out!). It will also change the
cursor shape, but it can not do the underline. So if we can live with that...

Unfortunately my boss descovered today that I get paied for different stuff.
So please be patient for a few more days...
