I get this "gnome-text-plain.png" message and
if I click into such a message I get additionally:

balsa_get_font_by_charset: using fontset

Perhaps this could help you.

P.S.: Yes I am from Germany and, as I said, it is no problem
it is just a, well, "funny" behavior, perhaps or probably a
gtktext issue.
