I'm sorry to hear of your loss.
I've noticed that sometimes stuff like this gets stuffed into one of
/tmp, /var/tmp, /usr/tmp, etc. Have you checked there?
The error appears to me to be a buffer overrun--the sort of message you
get from the CRT when a string continues on past \0.
