Any idea on why it keeps creating zombies for checking?  Is the thread not
getting destroyed properly or something (this seems very odd)?

Balsa should probably have an option to have lax file locking, which when
turned on would check the permissions on the directory, and if it can do
dotfile locking it would, otherwise print a warning to the status bar and
continue without.  That way it wouldn't happen without some conscious warning
to the user, but it wouldn't prevent the program from functioning on these
systems.

I think we should release just to get rid of that postpone bug, but maybe
call it 0.9.3.1 or something.
