Re: Does we really need help from CCKOREA?

Dear Sammy:

Actually there is a little different last year with travel subsidy application.
Because accommodation booking is hard and price is dynamic with hot season in HK.

Hi, Simon,

I forgot to talk from your angle, and I/we assume local expenses which NIPA will spend to any expenses with local receipts in Korea dollars, please correct me if I am wrong.

And we have a number of oversea speakers which most of them will apply for financial assistance from gnome.org travel committee, but as I know, travel payment of overseas speakers were settled in cash in hk dollars (anyone please correct me if I am wrong), and speakers should book their air travel in their own, so receipts are in their local currency, which it is possible that NIPA treat them as non local expenses.

Unless payment flow is changed this year, or NIPA can help overseas speakers (and their friends/parents/wife/hunsband/...) to book air travel too.

We will discuss aboves at tonight irc meeting, and may you and local team think and provide alternative suggestions to above work flows if any at tonight meeting ? :) It's still open tonight if we got any better arrangement.

As I know the main reason is to keep money for local expense. (right?)

Of course, if local company only can transfer to local account, we should need cckorea's help.

But not that the case, I think sending to gnome is more better.

Hi, Simon,

I think that, it is common in the world, in our case, local companies transfer/pay money in Korean dollars to a local company (ie. CC Korea) is much easier than to a oversea company in US dollars.

If it doesn't the case happening in Korea, may you confirm all sponsors are willing to transfer or pay to a oversea bank account ? Thanks.

Hi sammy,

If local company can transfer to gnome.org directly by dollar and nipa budget can cover all local expenses, does we need to collect  via CCKOREA?

Hi, Simon,

We requires a local bank account to collect sponsorship fee, therefore our budget planning is not a key factor. We should tell CC Korea to know the expected amount of sponsorship fee that they help us to collect/receive from local sponsors (except NIPA), and how should we transfer or claim the expenses (if any expenses not covered by NIPA).

For budget planning, we should list out all of our expenses, estimate which of them could be covered by additional sponsorship from NIPA, and which of them aren't.

Hi all,

I think we should discuss how much budget is needed in local.
IMO, When we know the amount, we can decide the necessity of cckorea.

Could anyone give advices for this issue?

BR,
Simon.
