I don't believe that a "judiciously worded blog" would have any effect.
As far as I see it, there are actually two problems here. The first is
that Wordpress, by default, uses far too much memory and this is a fact
which is known and accepted by any Wordpress user I have ever seen.
It's a beast.
The second problem is that our installation of Wordpress has not
been optimized. If somebody with knowledge of Wordpress were to put
some time into it, I am certain that it could be tuned down to use less
(although still a hefty amount) of memory. However, nobody has taken
the time to do this, and neither Will nor myself have any in-depth
knowledge of Wordpress to do this ourselves.
This being said, as Will mentioned, we will be returning to Django
in the future. Both Will and myself have extensive knowledge of Django,
and I have put considerable time into tuning Django setups for high
traffic websites, so I am confident that we can keep that running on a
machine with very few resources successfully.

Would a judiciously worded blog get the Wordpress folks to provide
some inputs ? I'd agree that it is ridiculous to have this issue on a
recurring basis.
