RE: [xml] trouble compiling on solaris

'ar' is not in your path.  There was another email about this yesterday,
and we too had the problem here, until we saw responses to email and put
'ar' in path (you will have to re-run configure as well).

I would personally prefer if commands were not replaced with 'false'
command.
