Ideally, it would be work with items of XQuery Data Model.
libxsl supports xpath 1, not XPath 2; there's no support right now for
the XPath 2.0 and XML Query Data Model (XDM).
At least,
maybe some sample parsing of a sequence of xml elements exists
somewhere...
Put a wrapper element round them and you'll be fine.
