[xml] Bug Issue?

I'm not sure if this is a bug or just a misunderstanding on my part.
But when using tags such as <textarea></textarea> the xslt processor
(perhaps this isn't even the correct mail group) converts an empty tag like
that to <textarea/>. In this case, the textarea needs the closing tag to
function properly.

I've noticed similar issues, such as a pocket pc browser requiring <br> or
<br></br> but not <br/>. If the xml/xslt processor is replacing empty tags
with singularly closed tags, i would call this a bug.
Is there a work-around that i'm not familiar with?
