"Port to 32-bit Windows"
Ah, so easily said but so hard to do when you have a 12 year
old poorly
documented POS appl using a 16 bit Btrieve D/B and
proprietary 16 bit screen
interface running on a base of 3500 DOS and Windows machines
out there -
some of which use a 1991 or earlier processor.
Life isn't easy, eh? :-)
Ironically, the reason for my question is to test a possible
migration path.
If I can get the appl to parse XML I can use an external client to
communicate with Web services for me and export all my
business logic into
Web services. When I am left with a hollow Appl, I can
replace it with a
browser interface.
Well then you must try to port libxml to that 16 bit system. To my current
knowledge, noone has ever attempted this with libxml, so there are no
expiriences to help you start. As Daniel said, disable all the features
which you don't absolutely need and hope. Wish you luck.
Ciao,
Igor
