Actually I think, it is a good thing, to even give the most notorious
FAQ-askers some initial help. Only the workload for giving these answers
should be distributed.

So the people required for the more difficult questions, starting with
yourself, should simply ignore these FAQs and some lurker will
usually volunteer to give the newbie some advice and links.

I fully agree with you. That would be ideal.

But, it can only be done in an organised fashion. Daniel must know that
those lurkers are there and can be relied upon. If he ignores messages and
the lurkers choose not to act, Daniel will be the one marked as
non-responsive.
