I would strongly advise against using this extension in a production
environment. It is expirimental and allthough much has improved in the
latest release, it is just mature enough to start playing with it.
This also means, it hasn't had a good userbase yet, to find any significant
bugs.

That said, the extension doesn't provide the ability to validate a dtd.

Use backticks to xmllint, would be my choice.
