Albert, this sounds the Right Way (TM), would you be kind enough
to provide such a patch ?
Ok, how's the following?
Far more complex than what's I'm able to debug in autoconf ! But as long
as this works, I don't care.
I tested on Solaris 7/SPARC and it seems to
work fine (with system iconv and libiconv 1.6.1).
Works fine on linux/RedHat here:
checking for iconv.h... yes
checking for iconv... yes
Should we change the --with-iconv description in ./configure --help?
--with-iconv[=DIR] Add ICONV support (on)
looks clear enough to me ...
