Should we do a big "call for feature creep" for 2.0 or just kind of
steadily make amendments over time?
i.e. what if we just do 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, etc.? I guess that
has some disadvantages.

Of course, but there's no other way to change WM's for now.
