Hi Forentin,
You did it just right. As first-time mailing-list user, here's a tip:
always reply to replies with "Reply All" or by manually adding
usability gnome org, that way all mailing list subscribers see your
replies.
About your idea: I think such a feature would be really cool. A
framework to program such things (enabling certain features with
authentication) called PolicyKit is currently actively developed;
although it is not final yet, it is already in a good shape and enables
us to develop such a feature.
You could file a bug report on http://bugzilla.gnome.org (product:
nautilus, which is the GNOME file manager) to get the responsible
developers' attention. Additionally, it would be good to write a mail to
desktop-devel-list gnome org with a link to that bug report to be sure
it is recognized.
