Well, in other discussions adding a bit of explanatory text in the Places
list has been suggested. To add some visibility to drag and drop. But text
taking up at least as much space as the current buttons ...
For some reason the Apple guys seem to see no problem in relying on
drag and drop.

I would say it's odd in both places, be it below target or source.
The usual solution if you have 2 lists and items from one can be added
to the other, is to have 2 buttons with arrows _between_ them.
