PLEASE put that in I crave something more out of metacity!... I would love to see it with something like a middle click on task bar icon. Ir perhaps a middle click on the maximize button.

This sounds similar to a feature I used to write for metacity[1], which
implemented a "maximize to fit" option. A window would expand as far as
it could until it hit other window borders. The patch doesn't work
anymore, but it wouldn't be hard to reimplement.
