Ok, sounds reasonable.  To further refine this hypothetical menu, I 
think it should probably be:

 ----------------
|  View          |
|----------------|
|  Show Menubar  |
|  Fullscreen    |
 ----------------

This way the action is clearer when there's no check next to the menu-item.
