[Tracker] Storage devices undetectable

Hello All,

I have run into the storage devices problem again with tracker. I am currently using the ver 10.27 on a customized distro. Tracker doesn't seem to recognize the "IndexRemovableMedia".

Looking at some archives and earlier conversations I have checked the following

        1 kernel (check the device appears with mesg)
        2 udev (check the same thing with /sbin/udevadm monitor)
        3 udisk (check udisks correctly detect the usb disk with udisks
--monitor)
        4 dbus (check that udisks sends device creation events on the system
bus with dbus-monitor --system)
        5 gvfs (check that gvfs receive the information from udsik with
gvfs-mount --monitor)
        6 check that the automount is done properly by gnome-settings-daemon
(with dbus-monitor --session)
        7 check that gvfs forward the orders from gnome-settings-daemon back to
udisk with dbus-monitor --system)

The steps run 1 - 5 work fine. However, we do not see 6 & 7 happen. What does "gnome-settings-daemon" do?
